Fall Splendour Projects

Well Krystal Hartley has released a new kit "Fall Splendour" with Zoe Pearn at SSD and I got to make some fun hybrid projects. The first one is a Table Talk Tin and was a little bit of work but I think our family will benefit greatly from it. I borrowed the idea from a local TV program with a few tweeks of my own. Here's the link with instructions. http://www.abc4.com/content/gtu/featured_on/story.aspx?content_id=DF1972A0-27ED-4894-937C-FA3059B1BEB8&gsa=trueThe dividers are Journaling, High/Low game, Dinner Trivia and Conversation Starters (OK this one wasn't in the instructions but I found a blog with the perfect cards that just had to go in this box.) It's from Summer Driggs. They are called Conversations Cards and they are free on her blog http://summertimedesigns.blogspot.com/The great papers and elements are from Krystal Hartley and Zoe Pearn at SSD http://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/ . Aren't the colors just yummy.
The next one is some bookmarks I made:I used the kit "Fall Splendour" at SSD http://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/to make these cute bookmarks. I added a few extra elements from Krystal's assorted kits "Sunkissed' with Misty Cato(Orangy border, Green frame) and her round 4 kit at FPD (leaves.) I also used FJardine's Miss Betty Alpha.I used a Basic Grey key plate albums individual pages and Mod Podged them on. Then inked the edges. Added eyelets and ribbon.

Interview Day

Well I have three job interviews today. And of course my son Josh gets sick on the way to school so he had to just stay home while I went to the morning one (of all days it had to be today). Well one down and two to go. Wish me luck!

Book marks the spot

Well I have been in a creative craze and I made some more stuff. I made some bookmarks for my kids and friends. I used most all of the digital designs from the Faith Sisters B-day collab kit that is yet to be released (except I used some of Amy Sumrall's cute flowers from her summeroo kit too). I have another project but I can't post it until Saturday when the kit is released at Sweet Shoppe Design. So check back then and see what's been keeping me frantically busy these last two days.

Am I an Angel ? (Hybrid that is)

Well I have applied to Faith Sisters to be a Hybrid Angel which is someone who gets to play with the digital designs and then print them out and Mod Podge them everywhere (ha ha-just kidding -well not really cuz that's what I do). Well I love to make crafty items and that's pretty much what it is. So here's a tin I made from a FS Birthday Collab kit that will be coming out soon- Green Paper from Nikki, the red, blue ric rac and cluster element is from Karla's "Lifesong", The flower is from Dahlia and the font is DJ lex.
I just used a white lunchbox tin from Roberts and painted it blue. Printed out the design and Mod Podged it to the front and back, and I also Mod Podged over the painted area to keep it from chipping off. OOOOOO don't you love these adorable ribbons from American Crafts. I can't get enough ribbon. I also hung some Making Memories epoxy tags from the handle. Done. The hardest part was waiting for the paint and Mod Podge to dry so I could finish.

Locks of Love

Well I was going to use my new freebie but I got sidetracked on some photos of my daughter and my niece when they cut their hair and donated it to Locks of Love. If you don't know what that is- it's a charity that uses hair from children for other children to make wigs for those with cancer and other diseases that makes them lose their hair.

Cool freebie

Hey I just found this freebie kit and it reminded me so much of Krystal Hartley's style and I love it so I thought I'd let others in on it. It's part of a blog train where you can access a bunch of other freebies. This was the only one I particularly liked but you might like some of them.(because of limited space I am only picking freebies that I have to have) Here's the link to the blog. http://ssdtaggersize.blogspot.com/

Makin Copies

Well for those of you that have tons of files on your computer and haven't backed them up on CD. I highly recommend it. Earlier in the week my daughter accidentally knocked my external hard drive off it's perch by my computer and I found out the USB cord would not stay in so I couldn't get to my files (all my digital stuff I transfer to it) So I thought since it was under warranty I could just get it fixed or repaired. Well seems like to do anything I have to get those files off the hard drive. I went to Best Buy and they charge $150 to transfer it to a laptop(which probably doesn't have enough room on it or I would have had it there in the first place) I had too many files to have it burned to a DVD which was $100- almost more than I paid for the stupid thing in the first place. So I went home and decided I was going to do it myself. I taped the cord in so it was stable and I could access the files. I then began to copy all my digital files to CD. Well about 40 discs and 3 days later I finally finished and deleted everything off the external hard drive and it's ready to be sent in for repair. I plan on backing up my files every month so this will never happen again. Luckily I kept a copy of most of my files zipped so I saved some time.
HA HA!

Well last night Matt took two of the kids to the Bee's baseball game so I made up 3 paper bag books for a Relief Society (women's church group) craft night in Oct. I am on the committee and brought up the idea so I get to be the teacher. They are very basic because I need to buy all the paper, ribbon, etc for a big bunch and have to keep the cost down. I have all the die cut sheets. I got them from TLC in a 10 count bag, I got them for pennies on the dollar. They are done except for the ribbon which I will be out looking for today. I'll post a before and after ribbon pic.

Rocket Man

Well Josh had to make a rocket for scouts this last week. I was amazed that he came up with the design himself. I helped him put it together but it was HIS idea- trust me. Then they used this rocket launcher thing (pressurized water thing) to shoot them up in the air. His rocket slowly got ripped to bits but they sure had a ton of fun.

Little Miss Sunshine

Well I just got a hold of Krystal Hartley's new kit "Then Comes Baby " and since the kids are all off playing I'd rather do this than clean my house all alone. I used the main paper and elements from that kit and then I went and found a buch more from her various kits to finish it off. A lot of her kits have elements that work together very well.
This is a cute picture of my neice Phoebe at our family campout.

My little Sweet Cheeks

I found this cute quick page and wanted to make a layout so I used these really old photos of my JOSHY. I think he was about 3.

The Job Quest Begins

Well I have officially begun my search for a job. Times are getting tough and our health insurance (self employed) went up to $866 a month. We just can't swing that but we won't go without insurance either. We have our rental houses, but the rents cover the mortgage and it would be really dumb to sell right now with the market so down. My poor hubby has been bustin his butt to get more income but it's just not happening- He's working more but making less. He's a mortgage broker and a Real Estate agent so that area is not picking up anytime soon. So I decided since my youngest will start 1st grade on Monday that I better go get a job. But I will only get one that I can work around their school. So 8 or 9am-3pm mon-fri is my goal and something with insurance. I am so blessed to have friend and family that are sending me leads and ideas daily. I just don't want my kids to miss out on having a mom at home when they get home from school. I feel sad that I won't be able to help in their classes and see them grow and develop at school as I have been doing. I hope this is just a very temporary thing- but you never know. So I guess wish me luck and say a prayer that I can find the right job to fit my schedule.

PS: I used a fun little circle clay element from Krystal Hartley to go on my resume. I had to add some character to a boring sheet of paper!

I've been double tagged

I got tagged by Beth. So here goes. I've looked at a few peoples posts already and everyone has nice and pretty pictures- well I have some reality here for my life.
I'm suppose to take pictures right now of these items and post them(no straighting up- no problem) Well here goes -warts and all.

1. My closet

2. Laundry Room
Sorry I was too lazy to go rotate it so you have to rotate your head. Don't you love the bra in the background?

3. Fridge

4. Sink

5. My favorite room
My scrapbook room of course!

6. What my kids are doing right now:

Nick is waiting for me to fix him lunch

Josh is watching TV in the great room.

and Sydney is in my room watching the Olympics

7. Toilet (I have 4 so I picked the least offensive)

8. Favorite Shoes (I'm not a shoe person-so I'm sure you'll be able to tell)

9. Dream Vacation

Going to Paris with my hubby. He went on a misson there and I want him to take me all over and show me all the sights.

10 Self Portrait.

Ok so the second part of the tagging is that you need to list 6 quirks about yourself.

1. I am a freak about containers. I actually buy things because of the cute containers. I also save any tin, glass, plastic container that I think I might be able to transform into something. I told you I was a freak.

2. I love to organized but I hate to clean.

3. I have to have all the light switches in the down position when off if there is multiple switches for the same light. I must be a little OCD.

4. I have to have clothes colorized (from lightest to darkest) in the closet and in drawers. I do it for my kids also. That's from years in retail clothing for ya.
5. I can't stop downloading free digital scrapbooking images. Please Help Me!!! Luckily I have an external hard drive to hold it all.

6. I often talk out loud to myself when I just mean to be thinking it. But I always sing too so most people wouldn't know the difference.

So I need to tag some people. Make sure to link back to the person who tagged you. By the way if you hate doing this just don't- no pressure- But I thought this one was kind of fun.

I tag April , Sarah , Jessica , Nichole, Ashli and Krystal H if not already tagged.

Clipboard Challenge

Well yesterday I finished my clipboard for the challenge at Sweet Shoppe Designs. I made one for Sydney but I'm sure I will be doing two more very soon. I also had my crop night last night and Jenn came and kept me company. I did about 10 pages (sans journaling) so at least I am getting some of if done. I'm on 2005 but almost to 2006 so I feel like I'm getting somewhere.
I watched a little of the Olympic opening ceremonies but an hour was about all I could take. It was very cool all the dancing and drum stuff but I'd rather see War of the Worlds on the other channel.
Credits
I used a collaboration kit from SSD called "He said She said" and I used green cardstock, assorted ribbons, ink and mod podge.

That title actually describes my boys personalities to a tee. I got this gorgeous quick page off of Krystal Hartley's blog(it's free so go grab it quick) and check out her latest entry into the Funky Playground Designs contest. I added the Chillin and Grillin alpha by Misty Cato and the Winter Melody alpha by She's Full of Scrap. And finished it off with Krystal's Little Black alpha.

Reading Obsession

Well I picked up the new Stephanie Meyer book "Breaking Dawn" (the Twilight series) I got it on Sat. afternoon and I am on page 563 of 754 pages right now. I will probably finish it today. Lot's of twists and turns and I'm loving it so far. Can't wait to see the movie that comes out in Dec. I got to read while I waited for my son to get some braces put on today. The fun begins

Clear out Frenzy

Well I spent 4 out of 5 days last week going through kids rooms getting them ready for back to school. DeJunking if you will. It took two days in Sydney's room and 1 day for Josh and Nick's room and another day for the Green Room as we call it. It is actually the room for the kids to watch DVD's and play video games in and it's also where Nicks dresser is too. You can actually see the floors.
