The Host

Well I bought the new Stephanie Meyer book the Host (she's the one who wrote the Twilight books) Anyway it's a 619 page book. I started on Sunday and got to page 120 then yesterday I read the rest of the 500 pages. I read in between doing laundry so I didn't neglect my family too much. I loved it! Her writing style suites me very well. She has short chapters so you can put it down for short periods of time and not be cutting it up. I usually hate romance books and I love science fiction and she puts just the right amount of both to make it fun and interesting. Theres a little crying too just be warned- at least for me but I'm a crybaby. It may seem really long but it is easy to read. I recommend it highly.

Had a Movie,Movie,Movie,Movie Weekend

Well over the weekend we saw Iron Man and Indian Jones. Then I rented a bunch of movies. Juno, 27 Dresses and the Golden Compass (for the kids). I really liked all of them. The Golden Compass was a little too vague and it ended weird so I guess that one I didn't really care for. All the rest were well worth watching.

Well I decided to try a change and got my hair cut off a few weeks ago. Haven't had it this short since Jr. High. I like it so far.

I got Tagged! by Krystal Hartley

1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

OK this is my first tagging so bare with me if I screw it up.

1. I am the oldest of 8 kids.(6 girls and 2 boys) My family thinks I'm sort of bossy but I've been in charge my whole life so it's just part of me. I was a retail manager for 12-13 yrs so it served me well to be bossy.
2. I am deathly afraid of spiders, I can't kill them or vaccum them up or anything. I can't even clean up dead ones(I actually scream when I do attempt it with the longest vaccum hose available) So needless to say we have had an exterminator for 12 years. Even thinking about it right now makes me get goose bumps. Yuck!
3. I have sung in chiors my whole life but I don't read music I sing by ear.
4. I love the song "Pop Music" because I have been to all the places except Paris and my husband lived there for 2 years, so between the 2 of us we've done
"New York, London, Paris, Munich everybody talk about Pop Music"
5. I'm 10 yrs older than my husband. But you'd never know.
6. I was a football manager in college and actually dated 2 players and a coach all at the same time. Such a Bad girl!
7. I'm a scary movie junkie. I could watch them all day and night long. It's harder nowdays because I don't watch R rated movies. I just have to watch the edited ones on TV or some of the good ones that are PG13. My all time favorites; The Ring, The Shining, Rosemary's Baby(edited), and The Birds.

I am tagging
1. Beth Swann
2. April Hendrickson
3. Sarah Lingwall
4. Nichole Hind
5. Julie Hunden
6. Jan Pepe

I only found 6. Hopefully you guys know more people.

Sick, Sick and more Sick

Well this week we've had a bug in our house and it won't get out. On Monday Josh was sick throwing up. It lasted about 24 hours and then it moved on to Nick who was throwing up too. Then Matt and the boys went on a Father and son's campout on Friday so I took Sydney and three of her friends out for a girls night. We went to a movie, dinner and a little window shopping and then home. She was having a sleepover when two of her friends came rushing to my room telling me that Sydney was throwing up. After helping her get cleaned up I felt it coming on me. I actually spent 36 hours in bed (minus the trips to the bathroom) Oh boy, good thing it was a weekend and I didn't need to get my kids anywhere or they would have been out of luck. My husband got back from the camping trip last night and he has it too. So lot's of movies in bed and hopefully by tomorrow we will all be back to normal.

Farewell

Well yesterday I went to a funeral for my uncle Kevin Rockwell. He is my dad's half brother and was only 55. He has been in bad health for quite a long time so it wasn't necessarily a shock but yet you still are never prepared for death no matter when it comes. The day was sad yet a little bit happy for him to leave his body that was so limited here on this earth. Now he is free to do the things he couldn't. Kevin was a brilliant musician and a man of faith. I know that families can be reunited again one day and he will see his wife and 4 kids again. That understanding makes the loss of a loved one that much easier to deal with. Death is a transition to a new life if just for a little while. I am truly thankful that I have the gospel of Jesus Christ that teaches me the eternal prospective of why we are here on this earth. I'll see you later uncle Kevin.

Mothers Day

Well I had a nice Mothers day. Matt made me puffy pancakes for breakfast (an old English recipe) and I got lots of cute cards and such from my kids. One of the cutest was from my son Josh who is 8. He made a booklet at school and on the last page he wrote "My Mom is the best at scrapbooking. My Mom loves to scrapbook all day and night. I wish she would get a prize or something. But she doesn't. I really want her to get a prize." Love those funny comments that kids think up. The perfect thing to use on a scrapbook page.
I also got to buy the cute green nightstands that I wanted for our bedroom. They were on sale and I also got a discount because there was a small scratch on one, I always ask for discounts (I usually get them too) I love to get bargains.
Well on Saturday we took Matt's mom to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and then to a movie "Emma Smith" it was very good and kept us teary eyed the whole way through.
Then on Sunday we went to visit my Mom. We chipped in to get her new shutters on the outside of the house. My Mom has everthing she needs so it's starting to get hard to buy gifts. All in all a very nice Mothers day weekend.

Brothers page

I found this beautiful quick page by Meredith Cardall and added this adorable picture of my brothers when they were little. I used Krystal Hartley's alphas- Sew Sweet and little black alpha.

Celebrity look a likes

I think this is so funny. I think it's because of the straight hair and the color not because I actually look like any of them. I'll have to try one with my curly hair and see what I come up with. Probably Richard Simmons or something.

African Prince

Well my son Josh has an African report today and it's all about African clothing so I made him an outfit that looks somewhat authentic since I couldn't find an African shop that sold small boys clothes. I whipped up a layout about it delaying my laundry by a half hour or so.

National Scrapbook Day

Well I'm not doing anything scrapbook related today. I've done a bunch this whole week. I made a little Utah Jazz book for my brothers birthday on Sunday, I bought a bunch of new digital designs online for more digi scrapping. Yesterday I took my daughter to a Women's expo. I found some cheap stamp sets and some ink pads. Mostly it was a chance for us to get away from the boys and home and have time together. Afterwards we went to dinner at Sizzler. As we were sitting there eating Sydney said "this is fun" She is a sweetheart and just enjoys time with me no matter what we do. I need to cherish that time with her since I know soon it will be all about friends, friends, friends.
I made pancakes with homemade syrup for breakfast. Now the kids have to clean their rooms which takes begging and pleading and a little yelling thrown in for them to complete. A quick whole house clean up for me. Then we are planning a trip to the library (I may make a detour and stop at Roberts to see if they have any NSD deals on scrapbook stuff- like I need anymore!)
Then we might even attempt to put up our trampoline. It looks like a nice day today, after a week of one day being 80 degree weather and then the next day it snows. Spring is Utah is very crazy.
Well off to clean-yeah ha!
