Smell's like Tween Spirit!

Well for the last 2 days my daughter and I have been cleaning her room (well cleaning is not quite the term- more like deconstruction and reorganization We've thrown out 2 big trash bags of garbage. 1 bag is full of clothes to pass on to cousins, another big bag is toys to go to the downstairs play area and a bunch of piles to go to various other areas of the house. Oh, and I forgot to say my daughter is a candy pack rat- she had squirreled away so much candy I think it probably weighs 10 lbs.(not kidding about that one and some of it is years old-scary)
And yesterday our power was out from 2-7 pm with the outside temp at about 98 degrees it got to about 82 in the house. So needless to say it wasn't the most pleasant experience. But the final results are great. We will see how long she can keep it this way.
Now I start on my boys room tomorrow.

Let them Eat Cake

Krystal Hartley strikes again. Amy Sumrall and Krystal have come up with a FABULOUS kit called "ooh la la" available on Sat. July 26th. I believe it is at both Faith Sisters http://faithsisters.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=2&sort=20a&page=4
and Polka Dot Potato http://www.polkadotpotato.com/shop/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=45
I saw a Jenny Weston from MM on Good Things Utah use this template from www. stampington.com and make a cute little cake box. So I stole the idea and ran with it.
I plan on using 3 of them for the ladies I visiting teach each month (I haven' t gone yet this month- hope they don't see this) I printed all the paper and elements on cardstock and then used the template to create the boxes. I added white sucker sticks for the little signs and lots of ribbon, a few buttons, foam squares and inked a few edges. Viola "Let them Eat Cake!"

Sunshine on My Shoulders

Another layout using MCato and Krystal Hartley's kit "Sunkissed" avaliable July 26th at Sweet Shoppe. The acrylic shapes are a freebie from Designs by Nikki and the alpha is Simple Summer by Laura Ping

Some more projects

I made this little tag book from the same Sunkissed kit from KHartley and MCato at SSD. I just made 4 little vignettes on a 8 1/2 X 11 photo paper(times how many pages I needed) and then just cut them out to look like a tag. I punched a hole and used a cute orange chain to hook the pages together and added a bunch of fun ribbon.

Secret's Revealed

Well I have been doing a lot of creating in the last two weeks I just couldn't post them until now- well actually I'm not suppose to do it until tomorrow but I just can't wait. Krystal Hartley will have two new kits released tomorrow and they are fabulous. I made this cute pail with a kit called "Sunkissed" by Krystal Hartley and Misty Cato. It will be available on Sat. July 26th at Sweet Shoppe Designs http://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/shoppe/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=72&sort=20a&page=4,
or PDPhttp://www.polkadotpotato.com/shop/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=45 . The "Wonderful" quote is from Elegant Word Art by Bethany http://elegantwordart2.blogspot.com/. All done digitally and printed on photo paper, cut out and put in/on this clear pail. I used some glass pebbles and a bunch of ribbons to finish it off. And I already gave it away filled with candy to a friend(at least I still have a picture of it.)

This layout was also made with the Sunkissed kit, I just added the font CK Twilight. My niece Daphne was doing magic tricks for me on our family campout so I started calling her Magic Girl.

Floats on Parade

I took the kids to the Southtown Expo center to take a look at all the floats that will be in the parade on Thursday. It was a fun and free thing for the kids to do. We also got to vote on the float we thought was best. The boys voted for the Utah Jazz/Bee's float and Sydney voted for a really cute one with animated kids on it. I voted for the one I helped make. The first few photos are our float and then I took random pics of some of the other ones.

Just so you know cities, businesses and church groups make the floats. And the theme was Pioneering.
This is the concept drawing of what our float was to become.

the float will have a boy on the front studying, a graduate in the middle and a doctor near the volcano.

Here are some other floats

Even got a pic with Jack Sparrow

Holy Batman it's our Anniversary!

Well Saturday was Matt and my 12 year wedding anniversary. Wow it sure doesn't seem that long ago we met and fell in love. He's a very kind, giving, patient (to put up with me) and loving kind of guy and I'm so thankful I met him. We have a beautiful family and a lot of my happiness is because of him. Thanks Babe!(I doubt he will ever see this because he doesn't read my blog)
Anyway, we just had a typical night out of going to dinner and a movie but we went to see Batman, and oh boy what a great movie. It's pretty long but I can't say enough how terrific it was. The hype over Heath Ledger was not unfounded- he's awesome. So sad to loose someone so talented. And Christian Bale- well all I can say is BABEALICIOUS! I had t0 make some sort of tribute to the movie so here's a photo compilation.

Makin a Float!

Well I have been getting crazy this week trying to get my part done for the parade float that I am helping with. Here in Utah, July 24th is our state holiday and we go all out to say the least. It's called Pioneer Day because we celebrate when the Mormon pioneers came into the Salt Lake Valley. There is a huge parade(one of the top 4-5 in the country) I was asked to make the signs for the sides of the float. Mind you I hadn't even seen the float when I began but it all worked out just right with a few minor adjustment(me resewing the fabric for the sign and reinforceing the grommets that ended up only being there for show) Oh well- It looks good and that's what counts. I've been glueing glittered letters to the fabric for two days now and I have glitter in my hair, all over my skin everywhere, on my clothes and tracked in my house and it's actually embedded in my stearing wheel of my car. Here are a few pics of the process. I don't have pictures of the finished float yet but I will take some next week when the float is taken to the hall before the parade.

Busy Weekend

The kids on the 4th
Sydney and Taylor
The boys waiting for candy
Sydney in her festive flip flops with glitter toes
Tractor on Parade
Pheobe"Little Firecracker"
Well I haven't posted in a while. On the 4th I took the my kids along with my sisters and their kids plus a few other relatives to the Magna parade. It's fairly short and pretty boring for the adults but the kids love it. (can you say flying candy) The day before was 101 degrees F and the fourth did one better at 102. We had a BBQ later at my sisters house and let the kids run wild and swim in the pool while we sat around and talked and ate. Then we came home and did fireworks with our neighbors in the street in front of our houses. Both Josh and Nick got the privilege of lighting them for themselves-with close supervision.
Then Sat. my niece Ashley was baptised and we had a little family (hubby side) get together. The next morning her little sister Mitzi was blessed. So we got a lot of church time as well as family time this weekend.
I've also been working on some top secret hybrid stuff that I won't be posting until Wed. Can't wait to share.
We are leaving on Wed to go camping with my family for 4 days. We will be doing some boating too so I need to go get my pics that are in my camera printed so I have plenty of room for tons of pictures. The next two days will be shopping for food and getting the motorhome packed and spending way too much money on gas to fill up the MH and boat.

My new Idea Book

Well I made this idea book from a plain green one I picked up at Target. It had plain chipboard dividers inside perfect for decorating. I used the gorgeous kit from Krystal Hartley- Moody Hues: Zen. It's available at Faith Sistershttp://faithsisters.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=2&zenid=42ab3917c82b8037288d51318a4ec664 I printed the beautiful paper out and lined the inside of the book and also the strip on the outside and tabs. I used a bunch of the elements from her kit too. I also added MM blue glitter alpha and blue glitter chipboard shapes. I used Scrapworks white glitter alpha. I used various ribbon, some of it was American Craft. Then I also inked the inside. I'm going to use this to keep track of all the digital elements I used on my projects.
