Is that Gas I Smell?

Well today was my very first day as a substitute teacher and it started off with a bang- well not quite! I got there and was waiting in the office when the principle came out and made an announcement that there was a gas leak in the school and we needed to evacuate. We had to go out with all the students and go far out onto the lawn area. The tempurature was around 40 or so degrees and some of the kids didn't even bring jackets. Well it got a little cold to say the least. We were out there for over a half an hour. Finally after the fire dept came and checked it out we were allowed in. I was teaching 6th grade and the kids were great. I was a little nervous and felt like I had no clue what I was doing (but of course the kids didn't know that). But overall it was a good first day. Wish me luck for next Tuesday's 4th grade class.

Oh fun!!!

Sixth grade, huh? So glad it went well. I used to teach seventh grade before I had my own children. I loved it!

I thought it was fun to sub. As long as you have a lesson plan, otherwise, just make sure to have an idea of some things to do and maybe some games! That happened to me once, but it was junior high, so the class was only about an hour, so we just played games and the kids were good.
